TON Wiki is an open encyclopedia about TON Ecosystem, collaboratively created by its community.

The encyclopedia offers readers unique and regularly updated content about the current components and products within TON Ecosystem.

Mission of the Encyclopedia: to document the history and growth of TON Ecosystem.

Goal: to introduce new Web3 users to TON and its features, and to attract new users into the Ecosystem. TON Wiki unites up-to-date information on one platform in multiple languages.

Objectives:

  • Collect and publish articles about TON in various languages in one user-friendly place
  • Actively engage the community in the development of the encyclopedia
  • Drive traffic to TON by having articles indexed in search engines, attracting thousands of new users

Target audience of TON Wiki:

  • Active contributors (TON community members, authors, native speakers, editors)
  • Content consumers: beginner Web3 users and active participants in TON Ecosystem
  • Project creators, aspiring developers, crypto investors, and sponsors

Encyclopedia Structure

Multilingual Platform

Currently, the encyclopedia is available in 12 languages (English, Russian, Spanish, French, Persian (Farsi), Arabic, Indonesian, Turkish, Polish, Ukrainian, Hindi, and Yoruba). Each language section runs on a dedicated subdomain like en.tonwiki.space with a language switcher in the left menu. At present, active content updates focus on three sections: English, Russian and Spanish.

Encyclopedia Sections

TON Wiki consists of three core sections for readers. The main section is Articles. Additional sections include TON Society AMA Reviews (text-based summaries of video AMAs) and TON Events (results of major events featuring TON blockchain).

Article Guidelines

TON Wiki authors should use a clear information style, stay objective, and focus on facts, avoiding complex or overly promotional language.

Articles must:

  • Clearly reflect the topic
  • Provide value to TON/Telegram Ecosystem
  • Be understandable to beginners

Articles must not:

  • Contain advertising language
  • Be overloaded with off-topic details unrelated to TON/Telegram

To help authors align with the Wiki's writing style, editors have created a dedicated guideline – the Editorial Policy.

How to Contribute

Anyone interested in TON Ecosystem and skilled in writing can become a TON Wiki contributor.

To begin creating content, users should register on the Wiki site and study these writing guides:

  2. Editorial Policy (only RU-version for now)

These documents are also pinned in TON Wiki working Telegram chat.

Next steps:

  • Propose a new article topic or choose from the List of Needed Articles
  • Write the draft (in Google Docs)
  • Submit the draft to the working chat for editor review
  • After revisions, authors upload the article to the Wiki

Translators select articles for translation and upload them after native-speaker review.

At the end of each period, authors, translators, and editors submit reward applications based on their completed work, using the current rates.

For support, contributors can join both the International and Russian-speaking working chats.

Tools and Infrastructure

TON Wiki runs on the open-source MediaWiki engine, where authors publish their content independently. A detailed guide to editing MediaWiki pages is available.

  • February 2024: First article published – The Open Network
  • February 2024: International and Russian author communities launched on Telegram
  • March 6, 2024: TON Foundation approved support for TON Wiki
  • March 2024: Seven new language sections added: English, Spanish, French, Turkish, Persian (Farsi), Indonesian, and Ukrainian
