TON (The Open Network) wallet is a component of the TON ecosystem, designed to manage, store and facilitate cryptocurrency transactions within the Web3 space.

Role of TON wallets

Wallets provide users with secure and convenient tools to manage their own crypto-assets inside the TON blockchain. They provide transactions such as token exchanges, staking, buying NFTs, providing liquidity for farming, registering unique domains, and more.

Security of Wallets in the TON ecosystem

There are two types of TON wallets:

Custodial wallet – a wallet managed by a third party that stores your private keys, most often a service that provides storage services, depriving you of full control over your funds and transactions.
Non-custodial wallet – a wallet where you manage your private keys yourself, are fully responsible for their security and control all transactions.
Multi-signature wallet – is a wallet that uses multiple private keys. It has enhanced security.

Non-custodial wallets give the user full control over private keys, ensuring the safety of their funds. Encryption technology and secure Seed Phrase storage ensure the security of the user's funds.

Multi-signature wallet (multisig)

This type of wallet has several private key holders defined in the smart contract. It accepts requests to send messages if the request collects at least the number of signatures specified in the contract. If a request sent to the multisig has at least one valid signature but fewer than the required number, it is saved in the contract data so that the missing signatures can be collected later. Any request can have a time limit, after which it becomes invalid. A multisig wallet can be used for voting. There are several implementations of the original multisig wallet: Tonkey, TON Web, and the console version TON CLI.

Wallet W5

In TON, each wallet is a smart contract. The W5 wallet version supports so-called "gasless transactions" — transactions that do not require payment in Toncoin. It does not mean they are free. W5 wallet can pay transactions with tokens like NOT, USDt, and Dogs. Tonkeeper supports the W5 wallet by default.

The OpenMask wallet is a non-custodial wallet that is an analog of MetaMask for the TON blockchain, whose interfaces are different from those of other blockchains, and thus it is difficult to fully adapt existing wallets to use it. With it, you can easily transfer assets with minimal fees and easily switch from other wallets with a single click, the wallet also supports biometric security. DeWallet

DeWallet is a non-custodial wallet that is a browser extension with access to decentralized TON applications, or «dApps».

The extension implements the TON web3 API into the JavaScript context of each website so that dApps can read information from the blockchain.

DeWallet also allows the user to create and manage their own identities (via private keys, local client wallet): this way, when a dApp attempts to execute a transaction and record it on the blockchain, the user is presented with a secure interface to review and approve or reject the transaction. The app supports network features: Jettons, NFT, TON DNS and more. The project has its own VPN called DeVPN, with which you can get a secure and fast connection using the TON wallet right inside Telegram.

XTON wallet
