TON.VOTE is a decentralized DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) management platform created for Telegram Open Network. The tool, developed by the Orbs Network team, enables transparent voting and decision making within the community.

The role of decentralized management

DAO management plays a key role in the ecosystem as it provides decentralized control over the protocol. This is achieved by putting decision-making in the hands of the community. This approach is in line with the basic principles of cryptocurrency and protects the interests of users by preventing unilateral decision-making.

Projects have questions such as:

  • What to do with the fund raised?
  • Should we allocate a portion of our tokens in the form of a grant?
  • Who should we give this grant to?
  • What steps should the protocol take next?

Above are examples of the possibilities that such governance opens up.

How it works

Voting takes place on TON network. When a new proposal is created, a Smart Contract is invoked on the blockchain. This contract references the Merkle Tree for all votes to be stored in the IPFS (InterPlanetary File System). Anyone will be able to verify that the data has not been altered.

The project that launched the vote determines how to select the voting users, for example:

  1. The «weighted balance» strategy:
    • Counts the voter's balance as of the date of the snapshot.
    • The number of coins determines the number of votes.
    • May increase the influence of large investors.
    • Applies to TON, Jetton or NFT.
    • Allows validators to participate in voting.
  2. The «one wallet, one vote» strategy:
    • Provides equal number of votes to participants, regardless of the number of tokens.
    • Each user gets exactly one vote.
    • Aimed at eliminating bias, providing greater fairness among users.

To vote, the user signs a digital transaction from TON Wallet with the answer choice selected. Everyone will be able to verify these transactions by downloading the file on the website in CSV format or in browser blockchain to ensure there is no third party manipulation.

Voting

The Orbs Component

TON.VOTE supports Orbs' Layer 3 technology to provide an additional layer of security in a decentralized voting system. The Guardians Orbs tool plays an important role by providing independent verification of the accuracy of the displayed votes in the user interface. This level of control ensures that votes remain protected from third-party tampering as they are stored in an immutable format.

Platform Goals

  • Decentralized infrastructure that allows end users to verify the integrity of votes.
  • Gasless voting to increase engagement.
  • Access to token history in a specific historical block to prevent voting manipulation.
  • Support for all existing DAO tokens (Jetton and NFT) without requiring projects to deploy new contracts.

Platform Features

  • DAO management token is not frozen during periods of active voting (there are no blocking or restrictions on transfers).

Creating a space for DAO

Example of TON Wiki DAO application

To implement DAO management, a project can apply to create a space in TON.VOTE by following the detailed instructions in the chat group.

Prerequisites:

  • Title and description of the space
  • Logo link (512x512 PNG)
  • Owner's address

How to get verification on TON.VOTE:

  1. Upload the ton-vote.txt file to the website.
  2. Input the DAO address into the file.
  3. Make sure the file is accessible by URL: https://yourdomain.com/ton-vote.txt.
  4. Request verification in chat.
