Hack-a-TONx DoraHacks (2023) — a global hackathon organized by TON Foundation in collaboration with DoraHacks, one of the largest hackathon platforms. The event attracted numerous developers working within both Web2 and Web3 Ecosystems, with the goal of creating, developing, and showcasing innovative projects on TON Blockchain.

The hackathon welcomed participation from both individual developers and teams who worked on diverse projects, ranging from DeFi to GameFi, data management solutions, and developer tools. The event became a meeting point for investors and blockchain experts, allowing participants not only to showcase their technical skills but also to establish connections within the Ecosystem.

Sessions were held online; however, one of the unique aspects of Hack-a-TONx was the organization of offline sessions in key locations for the crypto community worldwide. These included cities such as Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, Prague, Tokyo, Dubai, Tel Aviv, St. Petersburg, London, Hong Kong, and Lisbon. This approach fostered the growth of local developer communities and encouraged knowledge exchange among participants.

Main Goals of Hack-a-TONx DoraHacks 2023

Event had several key objectives:

  • Identifying innovative dApps with practical applications that could secure ongoing funding through grants and investments.
  • Supporting new participants with an 8-week onboarding period, during which they could learn and develop within TON Ecosystem.
  • Hosting offline sessions worldwide in strategically important locations to facilitate knowledge exchange, networking, and collaborative project development.
  • Raising awareness among Web2 and Web3 communities about the potential for creating dApps capable of achieving mass adoption through Telegram (950M monthly active users).
  • Expanding the developer community, encouraging collaboration on GitHub, and promoting open-source principles within TON Ecosystem.

Hackathon Stages

Hack-a-TONx DoraHacks 2023 was divided into several stages:

  1. Registration and Project Presentation: Participants registered on the DoraHacks platform and submitted their applications. At this stage, developers introduced their ideas and project prototypes, detailing their potential impact on TON Ecosystem.
  2. Development and Mentorship: Participants worked on their projects using TON Blockchain. During this stage, they received mentorship from experts in various fields, including smart contracts, DeFi, blockchain security, and scalability. This support helped teams refine their solutions and overcome technical challenges.
  3. Final Presentation and Judging: After completing development, participants presented their projects to a panel of judges, which included leading blockchain industry specialists and representatives from TON Ecosystem. Judging criteria included innovation, technical complexity, contribution to TON Ecosystem, and potential commercial applicability.
  4. Awarding Winners: The top projects were those demonstrating the highest potential for growth and impact on the Ecosystem. Winners received prizes and grants to further develop their solutions.

Tracks and Projects

Hack-a-TONx DoraHacks offered several tracks for team participation:

  • Fi+ (DeFi, Social Networks, Gaming): Participants created projects aimed at aligning incentives between users and developers, as well as enhancing interaction within Web3.
  • Decentralized Digital Identity (DID): Teams worked on solutions for managing digital identities and developing a DID stack based on TON.
  • NFT and SBT: Development of new use cases for NFTs and SBTs in social constructs and digital asset management.
  • DAO: Creation of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) to pool resources and manage processes within Web3.
  • Web 2.5: This track focused on building bridges between Web2 and Web3, as well as developing the metaverse within TON and Telegram ecosystems.

3 Tonic Lounge (feat. Tonic Wallet) Tonic Lounge and Tonic Wallet enable users to store their identity credentials on TON Blockchain and use them to gain exclusive membership in Telegram community chats. $35,000
4 Punk City A Play-to-Earn metaverse that allows users to participate in P2P TON matches, play mini-games, and win valuable NFTs from partner projects. $20,000

6 Evaa Protocol The first decentralized lending protocol on TON platform that allows users to borrow assets without the need for a centralized intermediary. $5,000
7 re:doubt re:doubt is a powerful tool for exploring TON Blockchain, equipped with all the necessary features for discovering, analyzing, and visualizing vast amounts of blockchain data. $5,000
8 Genlock A web service that utilizes generative AI technologies to create unique gaming assets in the form of NFTs. $5,000
9 1TON Offers financial solutions for creators by combining crypto/blockchain technologies and Web2 data to assess their creditworthiness, providing access to services that are traditionally unavailable in the banking industry. $5,000
