Gem Wallet
Gem wallet is an open source, non-custodial, multi-chain wallet that provides an interface for users to securely interact and manage their crypto assets on a blockchain network.
A crypto wallet is a storage box hosted on the blockchain that is used to store cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and make transactions through them.
As a non-custodial wallet, Gem Wallet does not have access to either the cryptocurrencies stored in user wallets or the wallet within the application. It is simply a graphical interface that helps the user to interact with their wallets directly on the blockchain. Gem Wallet currently supports cryptocurrencies across 32 different blockchains, including TON, and is only available on mobile devices.
Creating and Importing wallets
If users want to interact with TON using Gem Wallet, they have to create a multi-coin wallet first and then copy their TON wallet address to receive crypto. They can also buy crypto using third-party payment services such as Mercuryo that is integrated into the app.
When creating a multi-coin wallet, a 12-word key phrase is displayed to users. They are asked to copy it and then verify the word phrase on the next screen before the wallet is created.
Users can use this wallet for all their TON transactions.
It is recommended to have a written copy of the wallet phrase in a safe location, as this is the only way to access or recover the wallet and the assets in it.
Importing an existing TON wallet is currently not supported in the Gem Wallet app. However, users can easily import existing multi-chain wallets from other apps and access it on the app.
Integration with TON
TON became available in Gem Wallet in December 2023, and the wallet has been gradually integrating the blockchain services into its app. Users can buy, send, and receive Toncoin and other Jettons. Staking, swap, and NFT display is under development. If a Jetton is not displayed on the token list, one can manually add the token by going to the manage token tab. The wallet also supports TON domains making transactions to domain-named wallets easier.
Users can connect to TON DApps and Telegram apps using TON API integrated on the wallet. As TON ecosystem grows and other blockchains begin to integrate into Telegram, native users who want to explore other blockchains can benefit from the multi-chain functionality of Gem Wallet.
